B i o g r a p h y

Lisa Borik, soprano, is originally from Kalamazoo, Michigan. She received her Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the Moores School of Music at the University of Houston and her Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Butler University. She is currently pursuing her Doctorate of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance and Vocal Pedagogy at the University of Houston.

Ms. Borik has sung with various local Houston companies including Houston Grand Opera, Opera in the Heights, Lone Star Lyric Theater Festival, Divergence Vocal Theater, Opera Vista, Kingwood Summer Opera, the Gilbert and Sullivan Society of Houston, the Houston International Festival, the Houston Bach Society, Divergence Vocal Theatre, Houston Symphony Chorus and the Houston Chamber Choir. 

Recent engagements include Magda in Puccini's La rondine and the title roles in Massenet's Manon and Pasatieri's Frau Margot with the Moores Opera Center,  Suzanne in Suzanne's Secret,  Micaëla in Peter Brook's La tragédie de Carmen, Annina in Verdi's La Traviata with Opera in the Heights, Suzanne in Wolf-Ferrari's Suzanne's Secret and Sophie in Rossini's Il Signor Bruschino with Lone Star Lyric Theater Festival,  Mahler's "Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen" with the Houston Heights Orchestra, Lady Valerie in Amy Beach's  Cabildo, Kowalski in Pape's Houdini the Great, Celia in Gilbert and Sullivan's Iolanthe, the world premieres of The Silent Prince and Anorexia Sacra, Barber’s "Knoxville: Summer of 1915", and Galatea in Handel’s Acis and Galatea.


A frequent soloist, Ms. Borik has also appeared internationally with orchestras and companies in Brazil, Mexico, Uruguay, Scotland and Argentina. She recently made her Carnegie Hall debut singing Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass. She most recently sang the soprano solos in Orff's Carmina Burana with the Lake Charles Symphony and the Victoria Symphony. 

Ms. Borik is an adjunct professor at Lone Star College-Montgomery where she teaches private voice as well as Italian, German and French Diction. She also teaches private voice at the Moores School of Music. She works as a music director and choreographer with Stageworks Theatre and Christian Youth Theater- Houston, and maintains a private voice studio in Houston.


Ms. Borik is an avid dancer and yogi, will receive her 200 hr- RYT license in July.
